Kate is a true professional and a godsend for our family. My daughter is young in her year and lacked confidence in her abilities. Kate worked in a methodical, proactive and encouraging way. She identified the parts of the curriculum which required reinforcement and worked through these rigorously. My daughter is now confident in her abilities and enjoys tackling problems using the skills which she is now fluent in.

We have known Kate Walsh since she taught our older son in Key Stage 1.  He found it challenging to learn to read and write but with her support he achieved expected levels or higher by the end of year 2.

More recently Kate has been offering tutoring to both our sons.  She has supported our 8 year old - mainly in Maths but also with handwriting and comprehension skills.  He has come on in leaps and bounds and grown in confidence tremendously this year.  She ensures that sessions are fun and uses games, cards, a tablet as well as paper and pen exercises to keep him engaged.

Our eldest son is also working with Kate on both English and Maths.  He is not the keenest student but she tailors each session closely to the demands of Key Stage 3 and is really excellent at highlighting the areas that he needs to work on to improve his levels. He has said himself how beneficial the sessions are - praise indeed from a 13 year old!

With the SATS tests in Year 6 looming, we wanted to give him some extra tuition to help him be more prepared. My daughter had always struggled to concentrate & take in information during class and was falling behind in maths, spelling, handwriting and grammar. We knew our daughter could concentrate much better when working one to one - but she would always refuse to work with us, so homework was always a nightmare. We asked Kate to come & help her with these core subjects - and immediately we could see a difference in the progress and the confidence in my daughter’s work. Kate works patiently and methodically, she gives lots of positive encouragement and she identifies where any key weaknesses are and finds techniques to resolve them. With Kate’s help my daughter has managed to work very hard and achieve age related in all of her SATS.
